K9 Collective Academy was officially founded in 2009 by Tim Letson. Currently all training is based out of Ocala, Florida. They are able to service the surrounding areas of Gainesville, the Villages, Lake County and Citrus County. Tim began his career by training “problem and unacceptable” dogs for families that were in need. With the families faced with the only choice left which was to get rid of their dog. Tim helped the dogs get a second chance, to be completely happy with their pack family. Tim’s first professional K9 career was started 2003 when he became a police K9 handler working narcotics dogs. After leaving law enforcement, he than became a K9 handler in Afghanistan where he continued to work and train explosive detection / patrol dogs with the US and German military. Tim has trained and worked along side the German, British, Dutch and South African police / military K9 handlers. From there Tim took the many different methods of dog training that he had collected and he decided that he should start a business of his own, where he would have the ability to implement his own brand of value based training.
He took the skills that he had learned through hands on work with different trainers as well as his schooling and own ideas to come up with methods that he felt would be conducive to successfully helping owners & their canine partners live the life’s we all dream about.
Tim’s favorite area of expertise is taking on the over-aggressive, fearful, and very difficult dogs that fail out or are refused service by other trainers. Tim has a wide range of dog behavioral training and offers different methods of training to fit your individual needs. K9 Collective Academy works with you to positively change your dog’s behavior. Tim has developed his own approach in order to humanely gain control of even the most difficult dogs. K9 Collective’s philosophy is that with knowledge, respect, and patience any dog can be trained.
